Sized for a large toddler/farmer, the John Deere HST 4300 is a big ride-on tractor that can really plow up the play area. At 38 inches long (think "a very large dog") and 14.5 inches high (at the seat), it has an all-plastic body and a very solid, durable feel. Thanks to a metal pedal axle, metal steering components, and chunky wheels, this tractor is easy to point in the right direction. i ordered this on line for one of my 4 year old twin sons. it is a piece of junk! i ordered for my other twin the john deere loader - it is made by a different company and is so much better. i just returned this item and ordered another loader.
this toy has only 1 wheel drive, the front wheels spin and the steering is hard and inconsistent. my son was so anxiously awaiting this toy and was so disappointed especially when he saw how great the loader worked.
if you are looking for a tractor, i really recommend the john deere loader by peg perego for the same price.

I bought it for my little cousin. He loves to come to the farm and ride on the tractors, so I thought he needed his own toy tractor to ride. He totally loves it! It is very durable and will last him for years to come, a great gift for any farm kid or any one that loves tractors! This tractor was easy to put together, the detail makes it look just like a John Deere on the farm. Great toy!

I read the reviews on this product AFTER I purchased the product as a gift for my nephew. My sister was too polite to complain, but this product is a pricey plastic piece of junk! Too ridgid to provide opportunities for improved gross motor development. I'm very disappointed. Should have gone with the Peg Perego version of this product.

The battery will work fine for 2-3 seasons provided you keep it charged. My kids have enjoyed these for years, A new battery will last most of the day, and I do have hills. By the third season the charge won't hold very long.
The quickest way to ruin lead-acid batteries is to discharge them deeply and leave them stand "dead" for an extended period of time. When they discharge, there is a chemical change in the positive plates of the battery. They change from lead oxide when charged to lead sulfate when discharged. If they remain in the lead sulfate state for a few days, some part of the plate does not return to lead oxide when the battery is recharged. If the battery remains discharged longer, a greater amount of the positive plate will remain lead sulfate. The parts of the plates that become "sulfated" no longer store energy. Batteries that are deeply discharged, and then charged partially on a regular basis can fail in less than one year.

THIS WAS A BUST. I purchased this to replace the original battery that came with my daughter's Barbie Jeep. The original battery lasted about 3 years and worked very well before running out of juice. I read several reviews that concerned me saying that the replacement battery went dead very very quickly. Well, that's exactly what happened to me . . . I read and followed the instructions closely, in terms of how long to charge initially, and then subsequent charging as well. We got about 3 charges out of it, and that's it. I ended up throwing away the Jeep, and I'm taking this battery and the original battery to the dump, where they have a station to recycle old batteries. Amazon cannot take this product back . . since it is a hazardous material (acid), but, kudos to them, they credited me the purchase right away. I don't know what to tell you on this one . . . it could be the batteries they have are old shelf batteries; it could be something wrong with our Jeep itself... Read more

I have bought four of these batteries. I feel like a fool after reading so many bad reviews. Please look for an alternative. Out of the four batteries I have not gotten 20 hours of use. It is sad that a company as Fisher Price would sell such a mediocre product. The ride on is nice, please look for an alternative on replacing the batteries.
